A street lantern that behaves like a living creature. Approach Bloomlight and it senses you — bending forward, opening its hood, unfurling a bloom of warm light. Walk away, and it waits. It doesn't just illuminate a street. It inhabits one. Taking its cues from nature rather than infrastructure, Bloomlight asks what urban lighting could be if it actually cared about the people passing by.
Seven Bloomlights stand permanently at the Chedi Katara hotel in Doha, Qatar — still running today.

Presence detection
A LIDAR sensor reads movement within a five-metre radius, day or night, ignoring birds and animals and locking onto people. When several people are present, Bloomlight picks one and stays with them until they walk away.

Organic movement
Three stepper motors pull steel wires connected to a central glass-fibre tube. No hinges, no visible mechanism — just fluid, living motion that stops people mid-stride.

Two modes
In interactive mode it reacts to passers-by in real time. In choreography mode, a row of Bloomlights performs a pre-composed score together over DMX — synchronised, theatrical, and quietly astonishing.

Built for the elements
Waterproof and dustproof, tested to 6 Bft. In storms it enters sleep mode, standing straight with its hood closed until the weather passes, withstanding up to 10 Bft.
Made to last
Engineered from the ground up for long-term installation: fully modular, repairable in place, and conceived, engineered and produced in our own studio in Amsterdam Noord. Every component is individually replaceable.
